gives you a shorter throw and tighter pattern. a big improvement over stock. you won't regret getting a short shifter.

i would say you can shift faster. for example, say from 1st to 2nd gear the shift knob travels like 5 inches (i am completely guessing, i never measured), with a short shifter it will travel like 2.5 to 3 inches. Hence, your hand will travel to inches less than a stock would have to, to get where you want to be. I personally own one, and I would say it makes a big difference.

I did h: I have broken every single one I've gotten for my cars, skunk, b&m, and DC... h: They are nice though to have the tighter pattern is good.

Get it if you want

nothing out of the ordinary at the track... the part where the shift knob connects to the shifter itself is the parts that kept breaking h: maybe its because I bought them used I really don't know... I jsut never had a good experience with them and didn't really find them that useful

and they all broke on track days...maybe my buddies and I were too hard on them... I dunno :dunno:
don't feel sorry for the tranny, it was just the shifter that died h:

Couple things, i bought a cheap short shifter once and it just made me grind gears when shifting fast, i have a b&m racing shifter know and thats not the case. So dont just buy a "type R" short shifter off ebay didnt work for me. And for Rick D i dont see how you could break a nice shifter? My friend slammed his so hard the linkage pulled out of the trans causing the case to crack all the fluid to leak out and the shifter didnt break. Thats weird.

I drove my car with the stock shifter for years, and got really used to it. When I swapped, I put in a single-bend shorty and didn't like it at first. I got more or less used to it, but I can't say its any faster than before. The amount of time it takes to move your hand another inch is pretty negligible, IMO.

Pick up a used one and see how you like it. IMO there are FAR better things to spend your money on than a brand-new shifter, but used might be worth the money.

i love mine (b&m + 440 gram skunk2 knob) easy install and the gears actually
engage much easier due to the heavier knob.
