With tools its not difficult, maybe an hour if you've done it before. You'll need a ball joint seperator to get the halfshaft off the car tho.

Get or borrow the manual. If you can afford parts for your car, you can afford the manual.

its easy if u have a engine hoist, impact gun, and an impact fork, but there is a special cv boot u can buy that doesnt require u to take off ur cv axles to replace the boot. It comes split in two with a special glue so al u have to do is cutt off ur old boot.. glue the boot together and pack it with grease... put on the two clips n ur done..

Better yet, if the boot has been cracked for any length of time, just replace the whole CV with an Autozone etc, one. It will probably fail soon anyway and it's less messy!

You'll have to take off the inner boot to get the outer one, watch all of the CV inners, so that they go back in the same way, clean all the old grease, regrease with new, do both boots---save the hassle!

Why do you need an engine hoist to remove an axle? I can remove an axle in about 10 minutes with a 17mm socket, cresent wrench, pickle fork and pry bar.

because people are stupid & they think that they should offer advise when they have no idea what the hell that they are talkin about.. they think that it makes them look smart when in reality they are hurting the entire community by sharing their supidity.

But you don't even need a lift. I've done both axles in my Accord; the only tools I needed were a lug nut socket, wheel nut socket, breaker bar, a ball joint seperator, pry bar, and a floor jack and jackstands. The Civic is essentially identical.

You can do a lot with just a jack and jackstands.
