need to replace cv boot

You don't even need a pickle fork or puller. Wack the side of the LCA where the ball joint bolts down, it will pop out. Pickle forks will often split the boot, make a mess and ruin the ball joint.

After the 1st time I do exactly that, but after 10 years of newengland salt, sand, and rust gets in there...it's hell without one.

True, but that's the exception. I've pulled axles from a Canadian car without one. :dunno:

Don't buy "quick boots." They suck, they fall apart within a few hundred miles and only make the problem worse.
