Default 01-on D17 stage 1 camshaft on D16????

Does anyone out there know if this would work?

These engines are very similar - same family etc. and I think that only the compression & stroke are different. There are no (very few) quality off the shelf mods for my D16V1 (2003 Civic 3dr hatch vtec sport SOHC), but LOADS for it's slightly bigger brother - the D17 in it's three variants in the Coupe model.

I have:
Stainless header for the coupe D17 and fits like a glove
Hi-flow Cat again for the D17 and fits like a glove
Custom cat-back
K&N 57i induction
Uni-chip from Dastek

When getting it chipped on the rollers, the technician advised me to fit stage 1 camshaft - and I can't find one for the new D16 variants, only for D17 variants.

Someone please share the knowledge!

TY in advance:driving:

IN my opinion as I know that the heads are the same in d16v1 and d17a2 they are both equipped with vtecII systems only the crankshaft and the rods are diffirent and with an ECU setup HOnda manged get 17hp more out of the engine...As some coutries get taxes according to the engine size Honda just changeed these parts and made a d17 out of a d16 so logically it must fit perfectly ,the crower cams will fit to your d16 but maybe there are somethings that I dont konw of and I would advise you to buy the stage 2 cam bacuse the 1st stage wont make that much difference....BUt as I've claimed before maybe there are somethings I might be mistaken....anyone wanna help here???

And if you would want to go further and convert your d16 in to d17 as d16V1 shares almost same parts with d17a2 logically buying a d17 cranksahft and the d17 rods will make your d16v1 a d17a2...The compression will be as same as the d17's your engine size will go up 100 liter wihch will gain up to 17hp and with a crower cam you can make your gains even higher... I do not know if you would need a d17ecu tough...

But as I've claimed before these are my opinions and would want to konw if anyone would be with me on this?

01-06 ex civic models are equipped with d16v1's in europe and d16v1's are nothing like other d16's... if you do a more research than just wirting that it wont fit I would be more than greatfull......

This is a picture of a d16v1

And this is ad17a2

So you get the idea...
