You can only help a automatic SURVIVE boost, where a manual transmission can be made to CONTROL boost. The advantage comes with the massive amount of aftermarket clutch options, every where from slightly better then stock to bullet proof.
I dont get why so many people with automatics cant get over the fact that its not designed for anything but to put a car from point a to point b in the easiest possible way.
Lemme show you something...

Not always true, I have an D16Y8 (SOHC) with more torque than a SI, and more sooner too, the only difference the SI revs higher, non boosted and it's an auto too.

What are you talking about? A boosted D series will beat on a stock swapped B series any day for less money. And turbo D's aren't anything different.

this thread makes my head hurt.........the irrelavence of turbo vs supercharger is retarded....your auto tranny is the set back.....either way you are gonna blow it to shit...and the money you would spend make your A/T worth a shit isnt worth it...done.

Personally If i was in the market for adding some power to a d-series motor I would personally go with a super charger. ( i currently have a turbo on my b18c) and the reason for it is simple.
Most of the time people who are wanting to add a little speed to thier d series arent going to be willing to back it financially to properly turbo it. a super charger is a nice cheap and fairly reliable way to get some safe power out of the motor without killing it.
sure the cost of a jrsc or similar is abot the same as a standard turbo "kit" on the market but anyone who really knows... a turbo "kit" isnt a complete FI solution. atleast for doing it right. If you have and are willing to put the funds into the motor to properly turbo it then you should seriously consider a swap in order to really maximize the gains with a dohc motor. either way this is just my opinion and youre free to do what you like but atleast it gives you something to look at.

It's good for 300hp/300tq... in other words, don't expect to even get near that with a d-series without built internals and lots of money spent into it... in other words that package would be good enough unless he doesn't want a daily driver. you may be right, if the goals exceed 300whp and 300ft-lbs
