Default Diff. b/w OBD1 & OBD2 for B18C1 95/96

In regards to swaping this engine. My car(EG6) is an OBD1. I was thinking if maybe there is a convenience incentive with sticking an OBD1. Since I already have one. My question is, if I would benefit anything from going with a 96 B18C1(OBD2) than getting a 95 B18C(OBD1) considering that I am running on an OBD1 right now?

I would usually research something like this, but I don't find anything that answers this specific question. Any known knowledge would be appreciated.

stick with OBD1, OBD2 you would have to get a conversion harness. And if ever decide to upgrade your engine N/A or Turbo OBD1 is better for tuning

or you could just get an OBD1 ecu when you decide to upgrade...

I swear if I hear anyone else claim that it takes voodoo magic to put an OBD2 B series in an OBD1 Civic I'm going to flip out and ban everyone.

Search. I've covered this before. An OBD2 b18c1 with matching harness will drop into an OBD1 Civic in exactly the same way as an OBD1 b18c1.

gtiger: the subject is simply if there is any benefits to switching to an OBD2, not if it drops in to the civic. I know it fits and everything.

no, what he is saying is the obd2 teg harness will plug directly into your obd1 harness and you can run an obd1 ecu......there is no such thing as an obd1, obd2 motor, its all in the wiring. The teg uses a 2 parts harness just like the 92-95 civics did. The integra never made the switch to a one peice harness like the obd2 civics did.

OBD1 is essential if you ever want to chip the ecu plus there are less sensors to run and if the engine is OBD1 u'd have to run new sensors, one being the secondary O2 sensor in the cat.

god damnit....he asked the benefit of the motor..not of the obd....obd2 and obd1 teg harnesses plug into the SAME obd1 shock tower harness and run on the obd1 ecu to match your already obd1 car.
