Lowwer front control arm
Hey guys,
Will the lowwer front control arm off a del sol work on a civic? I'm in a bad spot an need a new control arm something feirce, if not, someone know where I can find one in the pottstown PA area and want to help a fellow driver out in a wall mart parking lot? Thanks

And while I'm at it, how long is the Joint bolt at the front of the control arm!? I've been cranking on that damn thing for what seems to be forever >.<

ys a del sol will work...for control arm. as for the bolt that keeps on spinning? i am afraid to tell you but go tow your vehicle home. ...this is what happened.....there is a welded nut (welded to subfram) that is on the end of the bolt. you have to cut a hole in your subframe in oreder to get to that nut that is spinning. instead of cutting a square shape or a circle....i woudl rec. cutting a v shape. pry thast part down to get access to the frozen/rusted nut. then when you finally get it all taken care of put the v shgape back flush with the subframe again. tack weld if you want but it doesnt matter.

Even still, I'm in abit of a pickle, I can't bring it to the apt to work on it. The land lord dosen't allow such work to be done on premisis. Think a dremel with a cutting wheel would cut it? I'm grasping for strawls here really, any input would be grand.
yes...a dremel would work....but you would be sitting there for awhile. the subframe isnt that thick right there. just make two cuts in a v shape....then bring a screwdriver/prybar and you should be able to bend the v shape flap downward. there is a hole already there but it isnt big enough to fit a 17 mil wrench in to grab the rusted/welded nut. so that flap is critical...you dont wnat to go to big otherwise your basically cutting your subframe and it weakens the structure by cutting. a 17 mil nut is on the other side. good luck...any other info?
This hole your speaking of has a rubber plug in it right? Thats what I think I remember seeing under there today. No other info other then hoping for better weather tomorrow because I'm drenched to the bone and still didn't manage to free my car from wallmarts parking lot lol
no...the hole is a factory made hole. im sure it is there to let water drain from the subframe so that it wouldnt rust. i dont know. maybe about a half inch wide? may i ask why you need a new control arm?
I found a curb and it bent it slightly, enough to cause drag on the tire. The outter arm that conects down to the spindle assembly is the only thing that was damaged. I've taken measurements of both sides of the car to be sure that that was the only damage done.
This in mind, I've learned that PA roads when damp are nothing like VA roads when damp. A hard lesson learned at that.

are you talking about the wishbone lower bolt? if you are...then those freeze to.
lossen the nut all the way to the end of the bolt to make it flush. pound it with a hammer.....with the nut being at the end you wont risk damaging the threads. more then likely this is frozen to. you can use heat so you have to drill it out....or gt a new bsuhing. i would consider shop at trhis opint.
