Default Questions on Engine Swap

I got a 95 Honda Civic EX with the 1.6 SOHC Vetec. I need to know which swap is gonna be easier and what all I need to do and get. Its been killing me tring to figure out witch motor I want a H22 or a B18 Type R. Which is gonna be the best bet. I also have a T4 turbo that I'm wanting to put on so I was wondering how much more that will complacate things. Which motor will be best overall for everyday driving after all the work is done I dont need something I cant drive everyday.

Well are you gonna be using the car at the track or just as an everyday driver? Just the other day I was asking the same question you were and people mentioned that if you arent using the car for the track then might as well go with the b18.

A couple of guys chimed in and told me that they actually wouldnt do the h22 and they have h22's themselves. Ive seen many people on various forums mention that the money to do an h22 swap is pretty high.

Im looking to do a gsr swap myself for my 98 civic also. Let us know how it ends up.

it has a cable tranny so there needs to be a hole cut in the bottom of the car somewhere(idk where but i read it in SCC) for the cables to go thru to get to the tranny

There are tons of threads on this topic. A search will have you busy with a lot of reading. Good luck on it.

Hi new guy. Welcome to HAN. It's cool here.

But yeah. Those engines, (pre K series engines) have been swapped to death so all the info is here if you look in the right places. I'll admit that it could mean reading though mountains of jibberish and what not, but if you really want to do the swap right it gonna take patience.

Be strong and you're car will thank you for it.

Ok the H22 is not the most earth shattering engine. It specific output is low it only produces power to I believe 6600rpm, and it is much heavier. however the one benefit it does have is that if you get an early gen H22 it will have a strong closed deck engine block which could be benficial if you really want to dole out the dough for a turbo mod motor. For me however I will say time and again that I would not turbo, there is little merit in doing it.
Got Boost? Hell No! N/A B18C5 9000rpm BooYah motor
