K20a R swap, what else to get?

This is right on. He asked about putting a K20 in an 05 Civic. Well, I don't hear much from anybody on here about putting stuff in an 05, cause they're just too new. You know in a couple years, we're all going to look around and see this swap being done all the time.
I think its funny listening to you guys flame Civics. How many of you have dropped a ton of money into YOUR Civic mostly just because you wanted to, and not because it was going to be "worth" it if you went to sell it? This is a Civic board, and he asked about putting a new motor into his Civic, which most of the time you guys would jump all over. You'd recommend this motor or that motor if you didn't like his first choice, then you'd recommend anything you could think of to add to it, no matter what the budget was. Seeing as how this is an 05 and there isn't a whole lot that can be done with it right now, you say its a waste of time/money and tell him to go get a different car.
I say hell yeah, go for the swap. For $8K, and the lack of this being done everyday (for now), you're going to be limited in options, but if for nothing else, do it because its not a B18 in a 1995 Civic!
There's my $.02
I'm not flaming him for putting money into a Civic, I'm just stating that I don't see why you would want to drop that much cash into a new Civic when you could have bought something better to start with. Most people that buy new Civics buy them because they are practical or because they are in their price range. I put and ass load of money in my Civic because it was paid off and because it was more practical than buying something that was out at the time. Now days there are plenty of factory performance cars including the new SI so why buy an LX? That's all I'm saying is that this swap is not cost effective the way a b series is cost effective to put in a 5th or 6th gen.
Hey, I'm just trying to show him all the consequences of doind what he's doing.
pros:
-potentially fun daily driver
-fun Hobby
Cons:
-the car wont be nearly as fast as car the motor came from
-the car wont handle anywhere near as good
-he'll be putting in alot of money to buy a newer motor, and then swap it in to a civic that it wasnt designed to be put in (dont the non-si's use d-series still?)
-loss of resale value
-loss of all factory drivetrain warantees possiibly all warantees
honestly, if he has money on the brain he should spend the 8k elsewhere or invest it.

A K swap is a great swap for a 7th gen civic.

O yeah, when I bought the car, the mugen ecu came with it.

i don't think anyone is far off from the topic. as far as i can tell, i agree with most everyone. except for that lameass that keeps posting on every thread about buying a damn srt-4. why in the hell did you buy an 05 civic when you knew you were getting a settlement? everyone is right, you're throwing your money away at this point. but you would have something that not many other people will have. its up to you. i think you should have gotten a different car to begin with. and if you have 8k to spend. go start an EG project or something.

i'm sorry for sounding rude. but everyone i know in idaho that has owned an srt-4 has had nothing but problems with them. and i know like 4-5 people personally(that have owned them). don't start knocking on where i live. who gives a shit where i live? that has absolutely nothing to do with anything.
and its still a neon. no matter how hard you try to play it off.

ok, lets get this shit straight, im the originater of this thread, 1st of all you guys talk lots of shit! if you want me to break everything down i will. for one, i didn't know i was getting settlement, i wasn't planning on selling my house, but got a nice offer....i bought the civic before i knew about anyhthing...i needed a reliable car cuz my other civic (94 ex) was having problems, and i work 25 miles away, needed something reliable cuz i couldn't afford to miss work anymore, and not to mention something with AC cuz i live in miami. the civic was in my price range, and good on gas (this was when gas was like 3.15 for 87). but now gas is down, i have money and i want some power. i like the way my car looks, that shit looks hot! black on black, wit black 18's polished lip, TEIN springs, its my night rider....so why am i going to just sell the car and get another one, i am happy with my car, i just want some power.
another thing, i didn't ask for your input on why i want to do this swap, i just want to. this is a car that i want to hold on, have fun with and play for awhile. i like having fun toys, and this is one of them. my next toy is a gixxer, but thats off the subject.....the way i see it, i like having shit that not everyone and there moms got. the 5 n 6th gen. civc is too old for me, they nice and all and have lots of potential, but i like somthing alittle newer. and how many people put a Type R into an 05 civic. not many at all, this is something that i find will be fun as shit for me to drive, it'lll be a DD.
this thread was for some advice for what i should do with a K20a swap into my civic, not to just bash why I want to do it. i don't give a fuck if the value goes down, or its just not worth it. i do shit cuz i want to, not because someone says it wont be worth it. most people who put the B16 or B18 swap all know that the car isn't going to be worth all the money they put in, the price tag goes up some, but its not gonna hold the same value of the time and money spent into the car. basically do shit cuz you want to when you want to (or can). at least i'll aprovecha and do it! instead of saying that i want to do something to my car...when the car is completely finished, that shit will be badazfuk, if you think differently, then go fuck yourself, cuz it'll probably be faster than yourz. i only said that i have 8k to put into the car now, not for all and all. another thing, i never said i wasn't going to be doing anything to the suspension, of course with all that motor, there needs be a good suspension...but also, im not gonna be racing, maybe if i can take it to the track, but doubt it.....street racing, ehh not my thing, i not tryin to get arrested, locked up, and fucked over. i can afford speeding tickets but thats it. but i'll sure take you at a light.....this is just something that i like, one of my interests so thats why im doing this. i know i could easily sell the civic and with the 8k go and buy somehting baad as shit, or buy a 5 o 6 gen. and totally build it up, but im not trying to do that, already said, and i would love a integra Type R (one of my faves) but that shit would get stolen so fast down here, its not worth it.
so bottom line is, get off my dick n worry about your shit, not mines. if anyone wants to get back on topic, feel free.....
