thinking of doing all motor
It's going to be too hard and to much money to pump the kind of power your looking for out of that single cam engine. If you spent 2 on a bolt-on turbo kit for that motor someone with a $1500 b16 swap hatch could beat you.
what? no. I was just looking over a turbo d's timesheet and dyno printout. He made nearly 290 HP and ran faster than 12.5 on radials. Thats on a pieced together turbo kit and more or less stock block. It can be done, and can be fun.

just for starters they're 6 cyclinders.........
SOHC arent worth is cuz the same money you put into upgrading it, just swapping it out for a B series and the SOHC is dusted.......
I have thought about building up my sohc. But it is just a money pit because your never going to be as fast as a B16/18. Thats why im swapping in the spring
Just pinch your pennys till you got the dough for a swap

Lets see how much $$$ I got into my buildup....
bored .020 over w/pistons (9:1 forged) = $550
Eagle Rods = $309
Performance Valves = $100
DC Sports Cam gear = $36
MSD Ignition (6al)= $50
Fadanza 7lbs Flywheel = $150
3pc Underdrive Pulley Kit = $50
TurboXS Turbo Kit = $575
XoXo Intercooler (FMIC) = $170 (Technically free, but long story)
NX Ntercooler Spray kit = $178
Uberdata = $0
ECU Chip kit = $20
Eprom Burner = $36
DSM 450cc Injectors = $20
Now granted that is a little over $2k but I would take a turbo fully built SOHC over a stock DOHC anyday. Plus I love the bragging rights of beating people with a SOHC...(like the acura with a built LS before I put on my turbo). Remember, the del sol is kinda light compared even to a hatch. so with some weight reduction for the track I should get some really nice times. (i'll race w/o a hood, passenger seat, and roof. (yea battery is in back and i got a helmet covered)(And yeah, im talking about @ the TRACK)
but for me this is my first honda and my first car that im putting perfromance on. so i wanna learn the easy way and not the fast way with swaping a different engien and then maby as i get more into the "racing bussiness" i might go bigger but for now the d16z6 will do just fine for me. even know i migh lose in racing but i will gain the experence that i need for more power

Del Sol Si and civic Si both 95s only differ by 20 pounds...and the Si hatch is the piggiest of the hatchies.
