This is what I thought would have happened by now. The thing is I didn't notice it wasn't coming on up until 4 or 5 months ago while I was changing my coolant. But then I thought to myself, I haven't heard the fan come on for months. So I'm guessing it hasn't been coming on for over a year. I know for sure that it hasn't been coming on for at least 4 months. I don't get it. Do you think maybe the reading on the guage is wrong, and it's really running hot?

So your temp gauge is stuck at the "C" position (it never goes up about halfway)? If you've changed the temp sensor, have you tried changing the thermostat? If you temp gauge never goes up, it could be that your thermostat is stuck open. And if you did change that, it might be the radiator fan and/or motor.

No it isn't stuck. It goes up halfway; right between H and C. The thermostat works because when the car was warming up, I put my hand on the lower radiator hose and it was cold(thermostat closed), and after 4 or 5 minutes it got hot(thermmostat opened). The fan works because I wired it directly to the battery and it turned on. Who knows maybe I'm just going crazy. The fan may work. When the car is left idling for 10 minutes or so, should the fan come on, or do I have to rev the engine for a couple of minutes for it to kick in? But then again, I read somewhere that both fans should automatically turn on when I turn on the AC, and it doesn't. Is this true?

when you turn on your a/c, the compressor fan (drivers side) should kick on when the compressor is running...at least, that's how mine work. the other fan (pass. side) operates off of the temp. sensor, and the relay makes it kick in. if your gauge works, your temp. sensor works. my bet is you have a bad relay.

check your relays...i had one out in my daily driver hatch (on the a/c compressor fan), and didn't even know it until i put it into my other hatch. it's a common relay, there's at least 3 in every civic.

Yeah, but I know the fan actually works, so doesn't that mean the relay works too?

Not if it's hardwired like you said because you're giving it direct power. It's not running from the ECU telling it to turn on. Unless I misread your post.

You you read it right. I get it. I'll just swap one of the other relays that works in place of the cooling fan one to see if that's the problem. I'll keep you guys posted.
