If yours are squeaky, maybe you need to use some brake cleaner. Mine have never squeaked.

As far as the dust, perhaps you need to have your rotors turned or something. Mine hardly dusts at all compared to other pads I have used.

The Last Set of AEM pads had horriable cold responce, not exactlay what I would want a set of street pads. I went from AEM to Axxis Ultimates, and the Ultiamtes stoped 100 times better cold and about 10 times better hot, they are a much much better pad than the AEMs. Dust is somehting your are going to have deal with, with most pads.

Pads have operating temps, temps where they perform at their best. My cobalts take a couple laps to warm up on track, but thats a different story.

It has nothing to do with weather, like txhatch says, brakes have operating temps, if a pad is not in its operating temp, and it generally will not perform as well until you get some heat in the pads. Stock Pads usually have a pretty low operating temp so they stop well when you first hit the brakes. The AEM's that I had seemed to always perform better after I had used the brakes 2 or 3 times when autocrossing, they still stopped when they were "cold" but the defiantly stopped better when "warm" mean they had better bite with some heat. Axxis Ultimate’s stop well through out their operating temperatures with good bit, however I was just doing some searching and Carbotech is Offering the Bobcat pad which is better than the ultimate’s for like $69, which is a great buy, especially if you are going to be auto-crossing.

However for just street driving I would get either OEM or even some of the autozone offerings over the AEM because of the "cold" performance.

AEMs are street pads and do not need heating up. I'm thinking maybe you broke them in wrong or seated the pad wrong. I've never had a problem with cold stopping with AEMs.

2 or 3 times using the brakes, and I have nothing against you, but there are few things I know a whole lot about, suspensions and brakes.... and with all of omnipowers problems and recalls, I believe I was proven right that they are not making quality products.
