91 civic dx hatchback stumping me big time
ewood,
i don't really won't to take it to a mechanic for two reasons. 1. i don't feel like paying somebody to do it, when i know with a little help i can do it myself.
2. The whole idea with this is to gain the knowledge of what to do with cars.
Everybody has to start somewhere. I got the chilton book, but it doesn't always tell you how to diagnose things. Sometimes it leaves out parts of the equation too. For instance, when it tells you how to test the fuel injectors, it tells you to relieve the fuel pressure, but doensn't tell you how to do it.
thanks for your help,
jon

How do know if I have fuel? Since there is a possibility that your fuel pump is dead, remove at least a spark plug, then crank the motor. You should see a few mist with a flashlight from the plug hole and a distinct smell of fuel odor. Warning: Insert the spark plug into the plug wire and lay it on top of a steel bolt to reduce the risk of toasting your igniter.
Honda uses those new style plugs which need the small 5/8 inch spark-plug sockets you would normally use on taper-seat plugs. Snap on a 6 inch extension and it fits perfectly. To remove the loosen plug from the engine use the plug wire as a fetcher.
Don't forget to post your spark and fuel results.
