All of the street legal kits are in the 6-8 psi range for our cars. But if you rev to 9K on a stock civic you'll tear it up just as fast as with a bad turbo and too much boost. And don't forget that you HAVE to use premium. There's also the equation of the differing condensation points of petroleum and it's ability to burn given the ambient temperature. the 6-8 psi range is good if you occasionally get a bad tank of gas. at 9 psi you are gambling if you have no internal mods and marginal compression.
well im just plain sick of my low hp y8 and i think in a year i want to turbo (thats how long it will take to save) by then i should have about 150k on the motor. motor burns a 1/4 quart every 3-4000 miles and valves need to be adjusted currently. you think i should go nutty and re-ring, get new rods and pistons and new head gasket before the boost? im a bit scared about getting a turbo, putting all that work into install and then popping the motor. furthur more, if i do go the route of replacing pistons, should i go stock pistsons and stronger rods or should o spend the extra cash and get low comp pistions too?
i just gotta get realistic about my goals for the car and an engine swap is not somthing i want to get into. i want somewhere around 200-220 whp.

forgot to add, engine has never been overheated, temp gauge has never even moved. currently there is nothing mechanicly wrong with the motor besides it being in need of a valve adjustment.
no you dont need 2 build your internals up.. YET. any turbo owner willtell you.. before they got the turbo.. they told themselves theyd be happy with a low boost, but u start getting addicted to it.. and sooner or later your gonna want to boost more. for the time being, keep your stock internals, slap the turbo on, then start building up your motor.

a member on another board just hit 266 to the wheels with these pistons and rods on his d16y7 motor (YES NON-VTEC)
yeah man, im looking at turbo install within a year. gotta wait for next years taxes unfortunatly
im really leaning toward that edlbrock set up. no more than 7 psi right now becaue of my stock internals. im just so sick of b series motors that are so expensive to build so i want to keep my d. she hasnt failed me yet. i wish i had friends that were into this stuff too that could help with install and stuff. so far i have done it all myself, been a real pain in some instances. any help with anything at all would be greatly appreciated. do you know of any other turbo kits that i should consider? i have learned so much, feel like a sponge with this stuff. im hooked already (i knew it would happen)

i would do a b swap head on d with a 70 bor to fit dommed sols. polish em out get hp crank rods , run 5 30 breakin and syntec 10 30 after 1500 mi. its so hard to suggest what to do in a buffer of imagination.
