Default door trim help?

i asked this in the Cosmetic forum a while back but didn't really get a response, so first off my apologies if that's against the rules or something.

copied and pasted:

i search and came up w/nothing, so here's my post:

my driver-side door trim (correct me if that's wrong terminology) was "broken" when i got my car (loose from the door), and finally "flew off" while driving home one night cuz i didn't push it down to "secure" it........

whatever

now i have just rubber (that also looks like it wants to fly off on the freeway) attached to a bare door, and a piece of molding that looks even worse than it did before because the holding-clips (they look like just clips) are broken and there's no trim to help hold it down.

so getting to the question, if i go to a junkyard, how do i pull those pieces off w/o damaging them?? and how to i securely attach the trim once i get a replacement??

i have a '95 civic DX coupe

here's a pic to show what i'm talking about

yellow is what i'm calling trim
green is what i'm calling molding

If you're talking about the soft flexy rubber stripping that's held on by the colored clips?

If so, then you can tug on the rubber until it comes off of the colored clip. I had to strip my doors 2 summers ago when it went in for paint. Just be gentle if the rubber is really old and brittle. My rubber was 8 y/o at the time and it was fine. Only trim piece I broke during the whole process was a black hard plastic trim piece by my back window.

Hope that helped,
Mindi

Oh, I'm an idiot... didn't see the pic attached.

Yeah, that's the one that I broke. Flat head screw driver and take it easy. Verrrry easy. They get brittle w/age obviously. Oh, and new ones from the dealer are 30 bucks and that bottom trim piece is 60 each. But yeah, a flat head WILL take them off. I think though that first they might be screwed in too. Hm. Wish I could remember, but it's been 2 yrs.
Sorry,
Mindi

cool, thanks for the reply but maybe you misunderstood?

or maybe i'm misunderstanding your reply? (wouldn't surprise me)

i don't wanna take off the rubber piece (unless i have to)
i wanna take off the piece that's supposed to be COVERING
that rubber, cuz THAT piece is the piece that flew off of my car.
i want that piece covering the rubber again.

edit:

very much thank you for those prices -- now i have an idea what i should be paying for those pieces.... if i can just get my @$$ to the junkyard to get them!
