Default leaking oil

It seemd that the seal in the intermediate shaft going into the tranny is leaking gear oil. Is that a easy fix? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I have a B18B1 with a manual tranny by the way.

Thanks
Chuck

Sounds like the seal on the tranny. Remove the axle, remove the seal, install new seal, install axle. Going to take 30min to an hour if you know what you're doing and the axle nut comes off.

Thank you for the input. I'm not too familiar with hondas, this is my first and I got the car wrecked so I decided to do a swap. I did some searching on here and found out that the seal on the tranny can very easily tear and that's probably what happend when I was putting the engine together. Oh well, live and learn.

Thank you again

Default question

on the 98 is it different that the 89 integras? on them you had to open the tranny to change the seal.

also btw. when tranny is out grab the shaft. if there is any play up down, left to right a seal is siloly as you have worn out the race berrings.

jesse.

Yes, the differential assembly needs to be removed to get to the seal. It is held in by a snap ring on the inside.

If we're talking about the seals that seal around the axles then you do not need to do anything but remove the axle and pull the seal out to replace it. What seal do you have to open up the tranny to replace? :dunno:

The oil seals that surround the axles inside the tranny. Maybe we are thinking of something else, but I don't what.....

I just took a quick peek at my Integra service manual and it says that you need to remove the differential assembly to replace those seals. :dunno:

I have never done it, maybe you have, so I will believe you if you can do it more efficiently.
