Default D16z6

hmm, are the D16Z6 compatible in a 96 civic ex? whats the power output of these motors, and are they vtec or not, can they be modded to be vtec, also is it a DOHC?

i have a D16Y8 right now that has ~127 hp... will a D16Z6 just bolt up as its a D series motor?

also where can you get these motors?

i just want to see price comparison between that and a b16 and power output...

links would be greatly appriciated to where to get these motors

thanks

Technically, putting a Z6 in an OBD2 car (96+) is illegal. You are supposed to only swap motors that are of the same or newer year than the car they are going into. That said, the Z6 will work just fine, but you will need to get an OBD2 (a in this case) to OBD1 conversion harness and then find a P28 ECU to run the motor since the OBD2a ECU will no longer be compatible with your setup.

www.hmotorsonline.com has these engines available.

your d16y8 is practically the same thing as a d16z6. going from one to the other is pointless.

that law with older engines dont apply here in pa, i asked a local police officer... i have another question...

how good are the h22-23? will my car pass inspection with these motors in it?

and how much difference in effort will it be to put the h22-3 in from a B series motor?

I just hope you never move then. h:

Hseries motors take a lot more than the Bseries motors. You have to get custom mounts, custom shift linkage, and redo the wiring. It's not nearly as 'drop in' as a Bseries, but they make a good deal of power.

Doing an H really isn't worth it without time and money. Just go B or keep your current motor. Hasport is where I would go if i needed custom stuff but there very expensive.

www.hasport.com makes the mounts and they might have something for shift linkage. I haven't researched the Hswap much at all...
