I was talking about full custom race engines not useing them, if you were replying to my comment.

That's kind of stupid. They are there for a reason and help keep things cooler. I mean for drag I can see removing them, but why take the time when all they do is help the engine out. For real racing nobody in their right mind would remove them

My buddy that recently registered here will likely make 600+ whp soon and he runs a 10.9 @ 135. He removed his oil squirters. h: (B18C1)

It was mainly for cooling purposes for the stock Honda parts. If you're using aftermarket pistons and rods, and they're big enough to transfer heat away, then the squirters aren't necessary anymore.

back to the subject on hand. You need to do a compression test and leakdown test. While doing that.. Check your plugs.. Any oil? replace your valve cover gasket and all the donut looking ones. Then maybe tighten down all your bolts on your oil pan. theres some options for ya

necessary being the key word. With forged internals they might not be necessary, but they will still be beneficial.

Depends if you're trying to maintain higher oil flow/pressure or not. Overall block lubrication/cooling may be more important than cooling pistons and rods.

It's a long-term reliability issue. To get the engine to 150k miles, sure, they're great to have, but on a performance engine they aren't needed.

depends what the said performance engine's intended use is. Most people think drag, I'm thinking road racing.

high rpms for 20-30 min's definately are going to see a benefit with squirters
