someone on this board (or who used to be on this board) had the Apex'i turbo on his 98 EX. He had just installed it for not too long when this board crashed, don't think I've seen him on since.

thats the 92-95 civic ex engine right?
my friend's got a greddy turbo on his car. and I liked the resulted.
minor internal mods and boosted it up to 11 psi!!!
when I went for a test drive, he turned it up to 11.5 and the car was well over 200hp at the wheel... he said 220 something but he wasn't sure.
well I sure felt the torque and hp though. it was definitely 14 sec on his stock firestone tires... better grip woulda help.
now he said their "secret" for running high boost is putting in a head gasket.. and for a moment I didn't catch on.. then I saw the thick 2 inch or so plate between the head and the block... from what I've read on greddy's site, the thicker head gasket reduces compression ratio? hence the engine is more tolerate of higher boost I guess... I'm still not sure if 11 psi is safe.. he's been running it at that for about a few weeks now though.
so if its safe, its a good setup for $2,400... (kit was used)
I'm sure boosting 5-7 psi on the stock motor is safe though. and youll get decent gains there.
