Default Messed up paint...

Someone threw some sort of liquid on my car and it ate through the paint. I tried to use rubbing compound but that did nothing.

Can someone give me a step by step proceedure on what to do to fix this? I have tried touch up paint on previous cars and it never looks right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sand it down and match it is what I did. Sometimes collision shops will sell pints of color. I got lucky and found one with a pint for 15$ Re-did my bumper, then I backed into someone so the bumpers cracked.

Then take it to a shop and have them repair it, it will save you time and probably money in the long run...

I would go with 1200 grid sand paper. Apply a masking tape around a damaged spot. This way you won't scratch paint around it. Sand it and pour water at the same time.
Don't sand it too much, just remove a very thin layer. After that go with rubbing compound. This should work only if paint isn't damaged all way through.

Then buy/rent a compressor and a paint gun, its like 15$ a day at home depot. Then spray 3 layers, or untill its flush with the rest. Sand it, add 1 or 2 more coats. Clear coat it with like 2 layers, sand it add 2 more.

time to go carbon fiber?? haha. if it cost like 100 bucks for a shop to do your painting/sanding and crap, y not just pay an extra 100 - 150 for a carbon fiber hood? it looks better IMO and its lighter too

Well its on the side of the car too, the trunk got the worst of it though. I have never seen a CF trunk before, but it seems like it would look stupid. Got any pics of one?
