Default Question on CX engine

Here's a question for the masses...

What makes the CX engine so slow? (1992 Civic CX HB)

Is it the block (pistons etc.)?
Is it the head?
Is it the intake/FI?
Is it just the high ratio tranny (5spd)?

I want to do something to pep this little beast up a bit, without spending a lot. (Building a race motor this winter, woo hoo for the EP car.(not the CX).

Don't even waste your money!!

LOL, I've got that 1.5 CX beast in my garage right now.

I say, figure out a way to rig it to a go-cart. It'd be fast as piss. 70 hp on about 600 lbs. Not bad!

I helped a friend of mine swap an 89 CRX Si 16v head onto his CX block. Long story short, he got a D16Y8 intake manifold for free and traded it straight-even for the head. Since it was free, he decided to put it on and give it a try. A set of new head bolts, gaskets, a DX ecu, and a few more parts later, it wasn't quite such a good deal anymore. When all was said and done, that little CX had a bit more spunk then before... but my 87 Si can still take it

just get an ex engine and slap it in there. Easy swap, good power, cheap as hell.
