Default mid range power

hi,

as stated i want to get mid range power instead of top end...

i have a 96 civic ex, i plan to get a magnaflow catback system, high flow catlytic converter, dc sport headers that are 4-2-1, and a CAI, and a vtec controller... what else could i do?

if i get the vtec controller can i set the vtec to kick in at bout 3100 rpm?

thanks

you can do that with the vtec controller. you can also turbo it and you can get the mid-range power you want.

Using the Vtec controller to make it kick in at 3100, would actually make you lose power.

This was taken from another post of vtec controllers. https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...tec+Controller

"The biggest problem is that people think if they lower the engagement point their car will be faster. That could not be farther from the truth. The vtec in point is set to optimize cam lobe timing. For instance if you lower your si from 5500 to say 4500 you will actually lose power between 45-5500 because the vtec cam lobe is not designed to work at the lower rpm. Leave it where it is unless you get a set of cams designed for it."

Without turbo, supercharger, or NOS, that's about all you can do.

Oh... switch to full synthetic oil, like Mobil1 (or Royal Purple if you can afford it). Stay up to date on your tranny fluid changes.

Oh, and get as close to that 2" exhaust as possible. Too big will be more for upper end rpms. Forget the VTEC controller.

Learn how to rev match and heel/toe shift and rev to the mid-high rpms. Accelerating in the 4.5k - 6k is the "mid range" that the CAI and 421 header will probably help.
