changing rotors
i read through the ^^^sticky and it seems to be fairly easy. any tips, or things i should be carefull about, words of advice etc. (i've obviously never done that before). thank you!
You should be changing your pads too. Make sure you have brake cleaner, and the screws that hold the rotors on. You do not need them. They are only there to hold the rotors on while the car is being manufactured. Be prepared to have stripped and or rusted fast bolts.MMM, that is all that I can think of now
If the screws are not needed, then why not drill out the screw heads so you can remove the rotors. You can either leave the existing screws in there with no heads or take them out with a vice-grip when the rotor is off. This is what I might do. It beats buying an impact driver and should be alot less painful.
If the screws are not in, would you hear a slightly loosened rotor after taking your foot off the brake while the car is still rolling?

umm, I'd just put the screws back on. They're only $1 at the dealership.
I just drilled them out. I had two stripped, so I bought two, and used a bit that matched the size of the screw shaft. not hard at all.

My brembos came with new screws.

I had to drill 1 out of 2 screws on every rotor I replaced. It looked like a hard job and a pain in the ass, but the front caliper has a good 2 bolts holding it on and you don't even need to worry about the back since you don't have disks anyway.

Took me a total of 30 minutes for the front and 45 for the back since I have disks back there.

If the back drums have no screws holding them on, then I guess there's no point for the front rotors to have them either. Whether there is ABS or not, it's all the same. In fact I really don't think small cars like civics should have ABS. Mine doesn't have it and I've been fine for 13 years. It's just another way for the car companies to make more money off us.
