Default Stage 1 Clutches

I need to put a new transmission in my car, I was also thinking about puttin in a stage 1 clutch, I want an ACT, but I dont want to spend all that money cuz Im gettin the transmission for $100. What other clutch companies are good but not as expensive as ACT unless you know where to get cheap ACT clutch kit...

What do you need an upgraded clutch for? What mods do you have?

I wouldn't go cheap on a clutch. Do it right and buy the whole kit or replace with OEM. Ebay is your best bet to find a cheaper ACT clutch but you got to make sure it is legit.

ACT doesn't make a Stage 1

Clutches aren't named by stages

Anyways, what is your budget and what are you looking for in a clutch? Are you going to be racing the car or is it just a daily driver?

I'm looking for a clutch that grips a little harder (more pedal pressure) than OEM, and yes I would get a kit not just the clutch. I got minor upgrades to my car (intake, exhaust, platinum plugs, performance wires) I just replaced my clutch 10,000mi. ago (car quest clutch kit) but since then my trannys startin to go (it drips fluid out of where the bell housing is bolted in I think its my input shaft & grinds in 1st gear) My clutch feels pretty much destroyed, it disengages all the way at the top of the pedal... What about Exedy or Clutch Masters??

Avoid the CM stage 1 at all costs. I had it and it's worse than the OEM clutch. Exedy makes a good clutch. I think stage 1's are weak though...

It sounds like you should be replacing your tranny, not your clutch.

If you're just getting a clutch to replace OEM and aren't putting down more than 250 hp, get Exedy. It's wonderful.
