Water flow in a D16Z6?
Ok, I want to know where the best place to install an aftermarket temp gauge?
I already fawked up and tryed to put one in the upper radiator hose housing (where it connects to the block) the little bleed valve, I took it out and got an adapter, and screwed it in and striped out the threads, so I had to go to the yard and get a new housing, drain my radiator, put the new housing on, let the selant dry for 7 freakin hours, and then fill it all back up and blead the system of any air.. And then I was thinking and I was wondering where the most acurate place to install this sensor would be? Befor or after the thermostat? And then I found the thermo, and I was a little lost? I am use to the thermostat being on the upper radiator hose? Why is it on the lower hose? And I wanted to know what direction the water flows through the radiator? Does it flow up? Or down?

The engine block. There are seperate guages made for cylinder head temperature, since to coolant flow is typically not as good up there and it tends to get hotter then the bottom end. Cylinder head temperature is not something you have to worry about unless you have a hardcore drag car.
Ok, so your telling me if I am running boost, and my car is a daily driver, and I dont race it, I dont need a water temp gage? Ok, I know that is not true, because when running boost, you want to be able to keep an eye on your engines oil pressure and temp... Every car/truck I have had, I have installed an oil pressure and water temp gage on, and it gives me peace of mind to know whats going on under the hood, even if it is a stock motor, they can still overheat....

1) I said you don't need a cylinder head temperature gauge. I already said that's different from a general coolant temperature gauge.
2) You don't need an aftermarket coolant temp gauge. It's definately nice to have, but you won't die without an aftermarket one if the stock one is functioning properly.
Yes I know this, but like I said, it gives me peace of mind to know whats going on under the hood, even if it is a stock motor, they can still overheat....
And I re-read your post, and im sorry for misunderstanding what you said. I dont feel confortable drilling and taping a hole in my block so what would be my options?
