I havent checked codes.

What is the method for checking codes on these cars? Do I need to use a scan tool?

I'm guessing it's not a sensor problem. This thing is making some nasty nasty noises. It is undrivable. But it will idle.

under the glove box, along the side, there is a green plug cover tucked under there. pull out the smaller one, should only have rood for two wires. Jump it with a paper clip, turn the key to on without starting, check engine light flashes, count, find the code.

you know in kali rumour has it d16's end up outside shops in hopes theyll get stolen so the shops odnt have to junk/deal with them. you should be able to find really GOOD prices in the right place. if you got th etime, i suggest perhaps ebay. if you got the money, i suggest also, perhaps, b16!

***Update***

Checked for codes today. There are no trouble codes! I have had two different people tell me I lost a timing belt, but the motor still runs! So as far as I can tell it CANNOT be a timing belt if the motor runs.

So I have a D Motor, if I switch to a B motor I need to run a different tranny? Why is that?

The motor won't run with a broken timing belt. You would ruin so many things if you even tried.

You will have to get a new tranny with a B-series motor.

Also:
new ECU
New engine harness
new mounts
new shift linkage
new throttle cable
new header or get exhaust length changed
new axles

that's all I can think of right now...
