Default Clutch is making funny noises...

Whenever I engauge the clutch in first gear, I hear something along the lines of either metal rubbing against each other (swishing sounds?) or maybe its some kind of liquid swishing around when the disc contacts the flywheel?

I already had the clutch replaced by the dealer at 7500 miles due to a warped pressure plate, and its acting up again (19k miles). I doubt its my driving cause the friction disc was in perfect shape when they replaced the clutch last time (pressure plate, bearings, flywheel all replaced). The clutch grabs perfectly fine right now (no slipping...).

Anyone know what this sound could be?

You replace it when it's slipping. It all depends on the driver. Some clutches last over 150k. I'm thinkin most clutches go around 80k ~ 100k miles.

Default throwout bearing

Kaiz,
I always thought this noise was the throwout bearing. I have a similar noise in my 1991 Civic with 167k on the clutch. However, it continues to shift fine and shows no sign of clutch wear.
As far as clutch life, I think that if you get less than 100k out of a clutch, it's wearing prematurely. I don't buy new cars, so I'm at the mercy of the previous owner, but my old Integra (1988) had the clutch replaced around 170k after I bought it at 105k with the original clutch. I have a friend with a 1991 Integra and she still has the original clutch at 235k...so it's really all about how you drive it.

hmmm if you still have your warranty on it i would bring it back to the dealership and ask them whats up. i learned on machined parts that the slightest minor wrong angle or cut can result in premature wear, might not be your clutch but something else. or they might say its normal just cause they dont know.

My 1988 integra (90,000miles) is an automatic, so I don't have a clutch, but I have the same slipping or metal rubbing against each other, on accleration.
What's up with it? It does not feel "slipping" when I let the go gas pedal, but only on accleration.

an automatic transmission is built completely differently from a manual. the mechanics of a torque converter are different from a clutch. that problem with your auto probably isn't related to his problem with his manual.
