Default Detonation

my 1998 civic lx has been detonating and back firing it gasps almost to the point of stalling when I step on the accelerator fast and hard. It has a holley pro strip anihilator digital ignition system, APC wires and short ram intake, bosch platinum fours, and a dual DTM axle back exhaust. Is it the intake? or is it something else.

is that ign adjustable?

you gap your plugs correctly?

sounds like some serious equipment to be asking these sorts of questions, did you buy the car pre modded?

What's your timing at? It shouldn't stall out when you depress the accelerator. And detonation usually happens in higher rpms.

well it does happen at higher rpm's but the gasping for air is probably related. and it doesn't stall but it stumbles badly and then runs up

Definitely sounds timing related.
