Detroit fell behind 35 years ago and to this day they have not yet gotten it inside their heads that they need to immitate.

Until they do-if ever-Hooray for Honda and their quality automotive products that constantly get better and better.
WOAH.... woah.... wo.

Honda does make great ECONOMY cars that run forever, but they make lousy sports cars. Propelling one of their economy cars at sportscar speeds is outright dangerous. There's a reason Detroit makes what it does, and many Japanese companies have immitated them with little success.

I don't own an American car, but there are lots of them I'd buy over a Honda... if only they were the same price. ...and Detroit makes lousy economy cars. I guess it's all what you're about. Honda does have reliable economy locked down pretty well.

what do you mean honda cant make a sports car... integra, crx, S2000. NSX. RSX... all are good and RELIABLE sports cars

Detriot can make faster cars but how many corvettes, mustangs, camaros, firebirds, GTOs, chargers do you see with 300,000 miles on it with its original engine and first tranny

and there are plenty of cars that are priced at or below what you can get a honda for, some having many more features

A) Cars that come with drum brakes don't count as sportscars in my book. There goes half of your examples.

B) The S2000 is a hair dryer compared to many other cars in its price point.

C) If reliability is a condition of building a sportscar, performance is being sacrificed for it. Race cars break. Always will.

Edit: D) My CX went only 104k on its original motor. My mom had a Ford Pinto wagon that did better than that. A lot of what makes a car reliable is the way it's maintained. It isn't all about design. Hondas are way easier to maintain than anything domestic.

Half of a sports car is the way it looks. The S2000 may not be the fastest, but it definetly looks better than 90% of the sports cars you see on the street.
