ZMAX actually work?
i be seeing ZMAX in schucks and some auto stores.. does it do what it is claimed? like.. more power and save gas becuase of the cleaning of cylinders, pistons, injectors? or is it just all bs to get your money?
DON'T DO IT... it will work, but you have to keep using it or it may cause damage.. like you can't just use it once. once it's been used you have to keep using it for the life of the engine, and that would be costly
Most of that stuff in stores is fools gold. If you really haven't been taking care of your engine for like 10 years it might work.

I have a friend in the oil business and he said that all the wonder oils like ZMAX and prolong use chlorine which is really slippery but is very caustic and corrosive so it will cause damage in the end. He's a chemist I'm not, so that's about the best I can explain it. He also said Lucas and others like it put an additive that makes it really slippery. But just because it's really slippery does not mean it will stand up to the abuse and tempertures as well. He has shown me hard data and his data gives every little thing and the other oil companies only offer the most wanted data. He also says that a lot of synthetics are not 100% synthetics. He works for schaffers oil and still has awesome things to say about Mobil 1 and castrol oils. He says all the companies are not basically the same like people think. He says some of the most popular oils have the crappiest test results and he says some of the less popular oils stand up pretty well.
He works for this company here in Texas:

so what does he recommend after all his research?
Well, of course he recommends Schaeffers but I still use Mobile 1 which he says is great. But I have already ordered a case of His synthetic oil. I do computer work on the side for him in exchange for automotive lubricants. They sell all kinds of lubricants (automotive that is). They have a great penetrating (automotive) lubricant that kicks the shit out of anything else I have used. They put all of their money into R&D instead of advertising (which is why i had never heard of them). They sell to big corporates such as Good year and firestone for all of there test vehicles. Most of their client base is commercial carriers and race team. They seem to have some great racing products too. We'll see, I don't like switching lubricants so I will stay with mobile 1 on my coupe and Castrol syntec in my Maxima but I am going to try the Schaeffers synthetic in my CRX once I get the block back. The degreaser works great also.
I have some brichures with hard data but I don't understand most of it so maybe I will post it and you can decide.

You guys can let me know if you are interested in buying a case at a time (since it would'nt be cost effective for him to send four quarts) and I can get some prices. I ended saving about $2.50 a quart vs. Mobil 1 which is why I will switch for good if I'm satisfied. Like I said, in his opinion (which seems to be honest) Mobil 1 and the other "true" pure synthetics are comparable to Schaeffer's sythetic but the price difference is the main thing due to teh fact that they don't spend millions on TV and magazine ads. Hell, I drive over 100 miles a day and change the oil in my protege once a month so the savings are key to me as long as quality is not sacrificed. Oh, shit, I forgot he also told me Royal purple is the real deal and has great additives. he said it's the absolute best but is very expensive. He explained to me that most drag race teams don't really care about the quality of the oil because almost any brand name oil will stand up to the short drag race bursts considering they tear the motor down so often. He said the road race teams are the ones that put so much R&D into motor oils due to the high RPM, high temp conditions. I on the other hand have too many cars to change the oil on so if I can get quality for a better price then I'm all for it.
