I wouldn't use that tire size (205/55/15) on my car only because of aesthetics. I think it looks funny to have bigger than normal sidewalls. But that's just me.

But you could use either 205/40/16 or 205/45/16 for your wheels. I'd just recommend the 45 series tire to save your wheels if you live in an area where potholes are common.

Define normal.

205/55/15's...anyone else think it doesn't look "normal"?

Sluggish? That's one hell of a no.
Yes sluggish. A stock Civic size is 185/65x14" or 195/55x15", which is 23.3" in diameter. I tried a 215/45x16" tire and it was 23.7". That 1/2" taller tire size equals a longer final drive ratio. A longer final drive will make the car accelerate slower. While you might not feel it it's definitely going to make 0-60 and highway merging a little bit slower.

A 205/55x15" is even taller at 23.9". Right now I run a 205/50x15" and it is 23.1" in diameter which helps shorten the final drive and make the car accelerate quicker.

You might not notice all of this using a butt dyno, but it is already proven.

I find your tire size, your car height and the place you took your car pic appropriate. :chuckles:

JFWY mang, but honestly that does look a little chunky for my tastes.

"Normal" being having the desired tire width with the appropriate sidewall height that equates to a similar overall tire diameter to the OEM specifications.

If I don't notice it, than the difference is negligible enough to be ignored. I might even bump up to 205/60/15 next year. I'm only lowered an inch, so I doubt it'd rub.

Not everyone is building their car to be MAd FAsST y0!

Just because you cannot notice a difference doesn't mean you shouldn't be giving out false information. What facts do you have to back up your claims? none. If you are going to do 205/60x15" just go with 205/70x15" and let me know how your car accelerates.

And no I don't expect everyone to be building a race car, but also be responsible when giving out information. It would be like me saying flames coming out of your exhaust help propel your car faster. It increases your 1/4 mile times by a whole .1 seconds!
