Default how to increse hp??? help!!

hi guys,

i have a 95 civic coupe with a d17b7 dx motor. i'll be gettin killed by gsr's and other stuff. im pretty broke (college) and i was wondering how can i get some cheap mods that will increse some hp/tq. all i have in it is aem intake, muffler (welded), and 8mm plug wires. i dont want to get stuff from ebay that claims to add hp (bs). i cant get a swap or anything, but i just want my car to at least have some power when passing on the freeway with 5 people in the car. thanks!

Nitrous. Cheap, easy, and relatively safe.

Typo, you have a D15B7 h:

Nitrous really is the cheapest way to go, but it will shorten the life of the engine. You don't have a lot to work with having that engine. You may just have to come to terms with the little 1.5L nonVTEC enconomy box that you have. :happysad:

Yeah, that's not going to keep up with (and stay up with) GS-R's unless you expand your budget. Nitrous is cute and all, until the bottle runs out.

haha... yea i know bout the economy and shit... im not really lookin for like a 50 hp gain or some crap like that.. just whatever i can do to at least have a bit of more acceleration/passing power. i took off the spare tire and trunk panels. (didnt feel much difference).

Right. You'd have to get rid of a lot more weight to feel anything.
Me... I'm in pretty much the same boat. I just had to come to grips with the fact that my car is good on gas, good on insurance, but really bad on power. I don't have to use the freeways too much so I get around fine on the surface streets.
I put an intake, exhaust, plugs, wires, pro kit, and strut bars... wheels and tires, and I gotta say the car is a lot better than it was stock. Tho still FAR from being a sports car.

honestly...the d15b7 was never ment to be a go fast motor...its more of a less gas motor. I would say use the d15 till ya got some money to throw at a new motor cause any money spent on a d15 is pretty much wasted unless it will transfer over to bigger and better things down the road.

mines a z6 by the way. Not that it matters that much, but yeah....I scare the shit out of people when I take corners at twice the speed that they would take them at, but then I explain why my car can do it, and that they shouldn't attempt it without upgrades and knowing the road really well. My tires never squeal...
Of course I keep it legal.
