f**kin' Rip Off's
Rota is a reputable company. If you want to pay 1800-2000 for a set of wheels...thats your choice.

I agree with the college kid...
Unless you see wheels as a status symbol that you want to attain or live up to, get the rotas. When I went wheel shopping, I just wanted good working, good looking wheels, the brand was secondary. I spend a bit over a grand on mine with tires and I'm totally happy.
dude, whats the pt of spending close to 2g's for wheels (and thats prob w/o tires). i spent 800ish for them tenzo sinko and kumho ecsta mx rubber. u'll regret dropping so much $$ for the wheels in the long
hi, sorry for replying late. i beleive majority here would get the ROTA's. anyway, thanks for your advises. keep it comming, still thorn, haven't decided yet. but just wanna say ikailburn and catatonin there both have really good point, about the performance thing.
I used to be king of the anti-Rota movement. But sometimes, those prices are so low, it's too tempting. It really hurts the wallet and heart when I scratch/bend the $400 wheels.
I agree that VISUALLY, they look very similar and can almost hardly tell the difference. But I can garuntee that the materials used and creation process is different. Rota's wheels are CAST, most of the higher end wheels are FORGED. Big BIG difference.

When a wheel is forged, it essentially hammers the wheel into shape under pressure to make a strong, dense construction that is almost always lighter than a cast wheel.
A cast wheel is basically like pouring liquid into a mold and drying. Cheaper to make, but then they are not as durable.
I've seen many Rota's being bent bad and crack, but then since they are so inexpensive, it's not too bad of a trade-off. (IMO)
Edit:
I suggest checking out this guide, well written:
