Audio Question?
Will a 99-00 Stock CD player fit into an 97 DX? Im tired of not having a cd player, so i want a stock one. Any information would help greatly. Thanks.
I know this should be in classifieds, but if you have one you dont want, ill take it! (for free if youd like to give it to me

the 96-98's have a different center consol than the 99-00's....
however, you can do this one of two ways....
the 96-98's have the funny curve on their main headunit. Plus, if you run OEM keyless, then it won't work without the main unit. The OEM cd player for the 96-98's is a seperate component, which goes in the lower din (next to the cupholders). You can get that, and wire it in, and it will work with your main unit. I'd suggest this, but if you already have access to a 99-00 cd player...
if thats the case....
you can put the 99-00 cd player into the upper din space with either an aftermarket cd kit (ie the plastic trim that squares off the hole), or by just putting it in there and aving it sit back a little. (you don't *need* a cd kit, but it looks a little better)
Or you can leave the main unit up top as a dummy, and run the main wire harness down to the lower din (it will reach) and install the 99-00 cd player down there.
However, in these two instances, you lose OEM keyless, unless you piggy-back the main unit.
I have a clarion mp3 player in my lower din space, and I ran the main harness down to it, and then ran a few wires (power, dimmer, ignition, ground) to keep power to my main unit, so it retains OEM keyless and lights up, shows the time, etc, but its not wired for sound.

still looks clean :grinpimp:
plus, with my dark tint, you can't tell its down there at night... At least, I haven't had my system stolen since I put it down there :chuckles:

Nice setup! Looks good
I just bought a dash kit and put an aftermarket CD player in mine? If you spend some money and get a nice headunit, it's worthwhile and most of them aren't gaudy. I just put a new Sony unit in my 240sx and it plays mp3 cd's. Pretty cool actually, like having a CD changer on one disk (I have 7 albums burned on one disk that's only about 2/3's full, it was just to test it). Sounds good and works great.

hey, thanks for the head up 18SecondFerio, I was thinking about swapping in the 99-00 center console, i think it looks cleaner, i dont like the look of the 96-98 center console becuase doesnt look symetric with the audio console and a/c contols "zig zagged" like that, unless there is a way to do to line them up evenly.
