It's kind of like a burned cd. Sure you don't get the pretty label, but in the end it's still the exact same thing.

Afraid? bahhahaha...what do I need the chip for? It isnt going to help much in my case. Label or not, I dont trust that one chip of of "eBay"

As for the exact same thing....I really doubt it. My friend use to run a Spoon ECU in his EF hatch with a B16. The motor was tuned and ready for the track. The real Spoon ECU adjusts fuel curves, ignition, timing, and VTEC engagement. All in conjunction with the appropriate induction, header and exhaust.

Your little 20 dollar chip raises your rev limiter...big deal. It will probably cause more damage than help you. Honda put a rev limiter for a reason.

I agree... that's one thing I wouldn't stinge money on, even if you solder wrong, you've f*cked up your ECU ($200-300)

Many of the "spoon" and "mugen" chips out there disable many of your sensors and engine safeguards in order to squeeze out every last bit of power and prevent a car from losing power on the track, even if it has severe damage.

What people sometimes forget is that these engines are rebuilt after EVERY race! They don't give a flying rats ass about the condition of the engine as long as it puts them on the podium at the end of the day.

ECU's are not that fragile. I installed a chip on mine but the chip was bad, so I removed it and resolder a new one 4 hr process, and now works fine.

But really ppl add mods to their cars even when ppl say dont. So if you want it just get it and face and consequences that might arise

True... but then there's probably those who only want to pay $20 for a chip, but aren't too experienced in soldering and.... :jlammy:

Even if the timing is off, just check it before you boost it hard. As for fuel curves, I'm sure they'd fatten them up. You can't get much leaner than a factory fuel curve. I had to add 10% just to get my gs-r back to 14:1
