Default taking off the stock intake tubing?!?!

whats up,

I was wondering if it was alright to drive without the intake piping? u know that long ugly piece of tubing that goes from the air box to near the wheel well. it looks like it would be fine without it because theres a filter inside the box and it will still filter the air! i just wanted to make sure it's safe?

if your wondering why i'm doing this is because of the intake sound...i would buy an intake but i'm in the process of savin for a b18

heres a pic

I'm a little confused. If you took off the intake piping, how would you get the air from the air box to the throttle body?

Ah, my bad, I got confused there.

I thought that the stock airbox setup was the same as my 5th gen but looking at the pic again it obviously isn't. Well I dont know if you can do that then. But, I don't understand why you just want the sound. I'll wait for someone with a 6th gen to respond on the answer

That's just a resonator, you can do without it

:edit: Wait, you're talking about the whole pipe? :eh:

lol okay check it..the tubing i outlined in red comes off of the filter box!!!! the tubing has ridges in it and stuff to keep the noise down...so if i take it off it will breath thru the box that has the filter in it!

You have an odd intake, its not what im used to seeing... but as long as the air that's entering the IM is filtered, than it is perfectly okay to take away any excess tubing.
