You should have seen me scooping the intake out when I was changing the filter... going... WTF? How? Why? Huh? !!!!!!

At my parents house, the squirrels ate the gate right off of the fence (it was wood, now they've replaced it with a steel gate that looks like wood). They lick the salt off the bricks on the walkway outside their front door. Last Christmas, one kept unscrewing the Christmas lights outside the house and burying them in the flower beds. They caught him with a video camera because they couldn't figure out WHY their lights kept disappearing. They thought someone was playing a trick on them. Squirrels can be some crafty little bastards.

... so get an intake and get rid of that stock Habitrail hamster cage. It doesn't have to be expensive. My CAI came from eBay and cost $36 shipped. It's worked out great.

gas mileage is fine. went from 35 to 34. drop is most likely from me getting on the throttle too much.

there's no way the air going into your engine is cool at all now.

yovue ruined the engineering behind the reason the box is at the front of the engine.

Cool air is good for your engine, hot air is bad...

And if you think about it with hot air your more likely for detonation, given thatd be unlikely.

Just put it back on, I dont see the point behind taking it off at all, it can't be for performance, because with less cold air all it would do is impede performance.

Default Performance

The motor should run OK without the intake tube that runs to the wheel well, but maybe not as efficiently. The tube allows the engine to take in colder air than that above the engine. Why would you want cold air? It's because cold air is denser and heavier than warm air ..... meaning that there is actually more air per cold cubic foot then in a warm cubic foot... so in theory you are delivering a higher volume of air into the engine. And the more volume of air you can put in the cylinder the more powerful the explosions are going to be..........need I say............ more horsepower. If horsepower isn't a consideration, take the intake tubing off.

Kind of looks like my old 92 civic dx CARB set-up

That would've been fun if you swapped a couple webers onto it.

I was thinking about it, but there was no place to mount anything, I think that they were either twin 31's or twin 32's, they looked good, but they were utter JUNK. I tried to see if I could fit either a 44IDF or better yet, a set of IDA's.....there's just no space. Would look good, with a subaru type scoop at the back of the bonnet......lol.
