quick fix just cut the ps belt, if you plan to ditch it for sure
and that's it.

the ps belt runs from the motor towards the front of the car

i say you'll save 30+ lbs if you ditch the whole thing for a manual rack.

that's 30 lbs off the front the of the car.
Well that and the A/C hopefully next year. So that's about 60lbs off the front of the car.

i'd think that with your level of autocrossing, that removing PS would throw off your driving techniques a lot. I figured by now youd already have it taken out. Let me tell you, no PS sucks. I tried it, really slows down my turning and reaction.

theres a 25lb difference just between the manual and power racks. so if you toss in lines, fluid, and pump yeah Id say youd get rid of about 30lbs by swapping it.

Actualy I driven about 4 Civics without the PS and it's a much better feel than with PS. Plus I don't have to worry about the PS going dead in a slalom.

were they civic with disabled PS, or ones that didnt come with it? I tend to think that civics that didnt come with it handle fine. it just seems like the disabled PS makes it hard.

All of them came with PS. 1993 Civic Si, 1989 Civic Si, 2000 Honda Civic EX, 1995 Civic Ex.

Also you might not be used to a car WITHOUT PS if you originally had one.

I agree... I find a disabled power rack to be much nicer to drive than either a manual rack or functioning power rack... The only time it has caused me any trouble is when I was parallel parking... and after spending a lot of time off-roading in my buddy's 84 toyota pickup with 12" wide tires (do this if you want to get ripped arms h: ), cranking a disabled integra power rack is a peice of cake.

And just for your info, Mike, my A/C weighed 38 lbs altogether. Plus about 30 for p/s, and a trunk-mounted battery, and thats close to 100 lbs off the front tires.
