that's why they carry different part numbers. The CX and VX tanks are only about 10 gallons. DX and Si are larger.

DX/EX/CX - 17500-SR0-315
VX/Si - 17500-SR3-316
for all years from 92-95.
the Honda Service manual lists the following:
and like I said I know first hand that the '92 VX came with a 11.9 gal tank. I've talked with many other civic owners and I have yet to find anyone with this 'smaller tank'.
One thing to consider when looking at part numbers... the difference in numbers could be anything.
I could have sworn my '92 CX had the 10 gallon tank. I think there was even info in the Helm's about it, I'll have to check.

Here's an old photo

I'll get a new photo up as soon as we can get together and clean all of em up.
nice line up in the driveway man.
there is a chance that the larger tank was an option for some models. I don't have the invoice for my car so I don't know what it got from the factory as far as options.
also I know that the gauge is not a very good indication of what fuel is really left in there. mine is on E with 3 gallons in the tank and past it when there is 2 gallons left in there.
ran it till the car died once late one night... coasted into the gas station, 11.84 gallons to fill it.
