Default Gasoline for 03 accords

The salesman told me I be good with 87-grade gasoline for my car. The 03 accord is designed to used that grade. Is that true?

well i would recommend premium b/c there is quite a bit more pull off the line where as regular seems a little sluggish in first and second gears. BTW i have an 03 sedan/beige/i4/LX/5spd and i tried different fuel for a week in rotation and there is noticeable/significant gain in my opinion. Or i could just be imagining it

Yes use regular for the 4 cyl. Any higher grade the car's computer jsut adjusts for, and doesn't give you anymore power - just wastes $.

A bit different story for the V6 though - so I hear.

Your salesman is correct, however you should be checking your car manual to make sure of everything. You people need to read your car manuals.

Dont put anything in your Accord except 87 octane, unless your hybrid/turbo/nitrious. Those of you that put a higher grade of fuel are wasting your money. More importantly put in a higher quality fuel. ie Shell, Chevron, 76, and Mobil.

There have been some dynos over at v6performance.net and some time slips done by the same person with premium and regular and the premium came out to give a 10 hp/tq increase, so the honda engineer in the USA today article was telling the truth.
So if you want some added power use 93 octane.

This stuff again, LOL

Yes you can use 87 oct. Thats what the car was MADE for.

But the car also has a knock sensor, and by adding 93 oct this sensor adjust some things and this gives your car about 10hp more.

This is somthing thats went back and forth forever.

All you people saying "my book says regular so I am going to use it." can do that, but just because it dont say other stuff dont mean you cant use it.... Your book also says crap like only use honda OEM bla bla bla and only use xxx kind of oil but you can use another brand oil and be fine....

So you see just cuz the book lacks telling you your car can get 10hp more by using 93oct or 91, does not mean your car can not do it, they are just telling you the car can run the cheap stuff because thats what an average person wants to know, "can I use the cheap shi*"
