Default Anybody use that A/C repair stuff at pep boys?

At pep boys some other auto parts store they're now selling this "AC system leak filler" stuff. Basically you pop open the low pressure valve on the A/C system and put it in, and it seals and fills up the leak.

Has anybody used this stuff before?

I work at an auto parts store and most of the stuff like that is just a temporary fix.

well i just looked at another thread in the Accord forum and since service shops wont take the car if that stuff is in there looks like i'll have to start my search on a good place that does A/C service.

That store bought crap is nasty stuff for A/C machines, but usually a/c shops have scavenger machines that will evacuate a system if you did charge with the store bought stuff. The problem is sealer...that compound is what cloggs up the machine, I don't remember if it's the filter dryer in the machine, or the lines, but in any case, you gotta call a service technician (usually a MacTool, Robinair, or KentMoore rep) to go out and clean your machine, if it gets in there. Now a days, shops are supposed to, not saying all shops do this, they check for sealer first, before hooking up anything, then check the condition of the refrigerant if it's contaminated or not...THEN they can hook up the recovery, vaccum, and charge machines.

yeh i'll most likely take it to the shop or just live with an A/C less car for the summer. A/C repairs are up the ass expensive.
