Which Hatchback
mm,i have had 2 hatches both 4th gen.iright now i got a 91 hb si with a sir swap.
i love it,i like the shape of the 4th gens better/the back windows are more round and the 92+ are more arrow pointed .eh i like the older interiors 2.parts are easier to find because they are older.

I love my turbo charged z6 powered cx it's fast as hell. I could care less about comforts all I have is AC. I wouldn't mind having an Si but the Cx is gonna be cheaper and that's what I went with.

parts are easier to find? we drive civics. theres parts everywhere. hehe
hmm in the bay area .most pick and pulls only get the older civics/tegs,because all the salvage yards snatch them up and sell them for a lot of cash.ive seed damn near totaled crx giong for 2 grand. plus i like getting the shit off my self ,makes me feel good.i love my hatch and i will proll never get rid of it.i got a lot of work to do to make it look nicer.its allready quick so now it just needs to be spruced up a bit.

I would rec. the cx for speed the si for comfort.....personally I want a black cx hatch like the pres wants a re-election.
if you're looking for performance, the 4th gen (88-91) hatch Si weighs close to 100 lbs less than even the VX/CX 5th gen, and still has the same double-wishbone suspension. The 3rd gen hatch Si (84-87) weighs close to 300 lbs less. The corresponding CRX (1st gen) is less than 1800 lbs (like 1760 I think, as compared to the 2100+ of the 5th gen cx/vx and 2300+ of the 5th gen Si), and although its suspension isn't as sophisticated, its just as effective and upgradable.
Of these generations, the 88-91 will be easier to swap, but either will accomodate a b-series motor.
Honestly, if you're looking for the best all-out performing civic, the 84-87 CRX is your best bet.
