My mom has a v6 accord. It's torque, but it's not torque monster. Plus with turbo you produce a lot of torque, high compresison turbo means even more torque out of the b16.


Longevity and cost, with some tuning on the hondata a b16a and b18b will be equally reliable.

High test gas? I tak it you mean premium fuel.

Turbo b18 would require premium also...

There's no way around it, b16a is a better choice. It is simply a great motor.

 

The way I see it neither the B16A2 nor the B18B have a large advantage over the other. The B18B does have a torque advantage, but that is slightly offset by its longer gearing. Also the B18B lacks the oil distribution for high RPM operation. The B16A2 has equipment meant for a high RPM redline, but people don't call it the "torqueless wonder" for nothing. The lack of torque is slightly helped by the shorter gearing, but it's not going to throw you back into your seat. The B18B is a cheaper engine generally speaking, so you probably could do more with it for the same amount of money as a B16A2.

I would never pick a B16A over a B18B, ever. It's not a better engine in any aspect other then reving high, IMHO. I would seriously miss that ~240cc's.

b16a2 with i/h/e/stage 1 cams= 150ish power,105 torque
b18b i/h/e stage 1 cams=145 power,126lbs of torque.
Thats the power me and my friend put down.Me in the ls teg,him in the b16.
My car is better till about 110 then he pulls slightly.If i had the same tranny.It would be a all out massacre on him.i put two cars on him 0-60.Then my gearing starts too suck.

 

on a track the b16 powered car would out do the b18 powered car.

on a street setup, i will have to a gree b18b and b16a cars are very close.
