Look underneath the car on the floorpans. Make sure the car hasn't been wrecked by side impact. Some people can fix body damage so well you can't tell it's ever happened, but the floorpans tell all. Those good body people almost never replace the floorpans (since they're covered by carpet), and you can tell by their condition. Look for bends, creases, or dents. Since the floorpans have the seat brackets bolted to them, after a car is wrecked, the seats often times won't be aligned right.

 

My bad I did not intend to call you a fat man! I AM! And I know how it is to drive the shit out of the car and the seats with time tend to bend a bit back with you got a bit of power. Well hope you get everything working. I know my method may sound a bit GETTO but 50/50 of the stuff people do require a bit of gettoing. Hehe goodluck.

 

Back to my backrest.............. it is getting worse!
I tried to adjust it, by pushing it forward................. but now seems to have a part jutting out, like the seat is really falling apart.
Questions:
1 - Can backrests on these be taken off, taken apart, and repaired?
2 - Is it a costly item to replace (junk yard)?
3 - How do I get it off?

To restate my problem - maybe a illustration will help:
Backrest is like this: \_ ; I want it like this: L.
Note that as I said above, now there is also a little lump sticking out about shoulder height.
