Default Really Stupid Question

to get the BOV sound with a turbo car....(YOU KNOW vrrrooom pssshhh...lol) i was told that you would need to run a certain PSI (I believe it was 8 PSI) to get it everytime you switch gears....you still get that sound at lower PSIs but only at certain RPMs and not as loud as it would be at 8psi....im not really sure about these turbo cars...so can someone answer this question for me *BTW didnt know where this went* or do you always get constantly but the high the psi just the louder it is so you can hear it *sorry guys dumb question....i have basic mechanical skills*

So you are turboing for the sound? Just get one of those things on ebay that attaches to your muffler. :chuckles:

Your BOV should release the air everytime you are in boost and let out of the throttle as far as I know. I mean someone correct me if I am wrong.

I am really confused about what exactly it is your asking? You want to know at what PSI you need to make the BOV sound? This thread is turning uber :ghey:

his question was pretty clear in the beginning people just been giving him stupid respones, my opinion is that it depends on the BOV, some will make the same sound any psi some will make a louder sound based on a higher psi. higher psi usally is a longer pssssst then a louder one. its the BOV, the 8psi is tha max a honda engine can take stock, no more, you have to build up to take more, but if i were you unless you get your bottom end built dont go above 5psi or you will run into trouble.

Too many variables are involved, mostly dependant on what BOV you are using.

Saying a stock engine can only take 8psi and no more is stupid. You need to do some reading, my friend! There are pleanty of D sereis motors running 10psi or more for at least a year with no problems.

One thing you guys are forgetting is that if you're just putting along, and going easy on it, you may not even be making boost when you shift. But if you are flooring it and making 2psi, it will still make the bov release. Absolutely right that it depends on the bov, as to how loud it will be. If you're making 10-15 psi, it will obviously be louder, or have a longer release... But again, having a car that can make that kind of boost doesn't mean you are making that boost when you shift...

whats stupid is talking when you dont know what you are talking about, just cause u know people that run at 10psi doesnt mean that they should. Do me a favor.... call honda one of there tech or service lines, ask what honda says a stock engine top psi should be............. 7PSI. i dont mean to be ignorant but i mean... no respect for people that dont give it. if you run 7 psi on a honda engine, it will be fine. you dont have to worrie about blowing the engine due to boost. no additonal engine wear.... nothing. that is a safe smart way to boost without the proper mesures taken to boost. i correct myself it is 7 not 8.... so do some reading in the phone book and call a honda dealer.
