Si has a B16A2, EX has a D16Y8.

They are engine codes. They're stamped on the front of the block above a little metal tab right where the tranny bolts to the block.

You'll need a different sized coupler for your intake. 2.50 to the size of your throttle body I believe. As for your vtec light, do a search. There's some funny ones around. Don't really see the point, but maybe it's a bored summer project.

Depends on your setup.

If vtec does not kick in when its supposed to, will the cel turn on? If not, I don't see why you wouldn't want a vtec light, no different than an oil pressure gauge or a fuel pressure gauge- just makes sure everything is running correctly.

I appreciate everyones responses about my questions!! I was askin about the vtec light, not because i wanted to put one in, just because my girl just bought this car and someone said on a forum that there vtec light didnt work, so i didnt know if something was wrong with her car. But it makes sence, if the car doesnt have one then i guess one shouldnt come on!!! LOL

Hey Illicon or anyone else who might know. About the coupler goin to a 2.5 to fit the throttle body. Does that mean that the intake that is supposed to go onto the Si is bigger then the one we took off her Ex? When i look at CAIs on line, Ex 96-00 have the same part # and Si 99-00 have the same part number which is defferent then the Ex #. If the only reason for the different part number is just because of the coupler then i could get my own coupler but if the size and diameter of the tube is different then i would probably want to get a CAI that was made specificly for the car for better performance.

I feel if i would call a shop and ask them, no matter what i would say they would just tell me i need a new one.... you always need a new one, come to our shop we got new ones!!! hahaha

Thanks for all the great replies, you guys r helpin me out alot!

I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) that the si intake is 2.75" and ex is 2.5".
