Default b20 BS thread....

so I'm debating spending my tax return on a swap.....

I was thinking about the b20 setup (just nonvtec, nonboost for now), with a gsr tranny.

I'm hoping for a 99+ engine, or at least not the 97-98 Anyone know about how much I should pay locally? I've been seeing them go online anywhere from $500-$900 for just the engine. But still kinda seems a little high....

Also, how much would I be looking at for the tranny? Any tips on that (I'm a noob with tranny shit h: especailly required parts for auto->manual).

About bolts ons..... I was looking and saw Skunk2 makes an ls/crv IM. Anyone have experience with it?

good luck. the 99+ engine is damn hard to get a hold of. I tried for about 8 months before I gave up. Basically, the only way to get it is through a local wrecked CR-V. The major engine importers (hmotors, total boost, etc) generally don't import many of them, and when they do, a local shop or regular customer usually had dibs on it. If you find a reliable source let me know.

:edit: heres a good page on the 99+ motor http://http//:hybrid2.honda-perf.org.../b20dyno2.html

ok, so I'll need the engine+tranny (~$1000-$1200)

can I use the crv IM? or do I need an ls/aftermarket IM?

how about parts needed? I know since there's no vtec to be wired, that'll make that job 10X easier.... Axles, ecu, pedals..... bah, I need to search for an auto->mani thread....

you will need an LS or other intake mani, because the CRV mani wont fit....as far as the rest goes it is just like putting a b18b into your car.
