Drumsy,

You know, I come to HAN because I love it here. HAN is so different from every other Automotive message board I've seen. I've been posting for almost a year now and I have made friends and contacts on here that I would've never made anywhere else. Everyone that I meet that has a Honda, I give them the address to this site because of the great community we have. We've got awesome moderators and users that are willing to help you out in any way they can. Last month I had decided I was going to donate about a hundred bucks to HAN to help with the overall upkeep because I love it here so much but when you banned me yesterday for absolutely nothing, I was severely disappointed in you. You gave no warning to me that I would be banned for my remarks (which were very civil and respectful IMO). I guess warning points aren't used on HAN anymore considering I've never had one? You say you don't want me here if that's how I treat a noob but how do you know how I treat noobs? I've never seen you in the del Sol forum. I treat everyone with respect and offer my opinion when asked. I welcome new guys all the time. When I'm out of line I apologize on my own accord and without being told to by my moderator, Soltaker. Hell, I tell people about Honda-Acura.net hoping to get more traffic and to help them out. You know nothing about me from what I gather other than what you've read here. I think new people coming here is exactly what we need but when I see some guy with a post count of 4 and a join date of Feb 2004 telling me he took away my favorite forum for the betterment of own experience, I'm going to beg to differ. I don't care if he's an administrator. I don't care if he's Jesus himself. I don't need him telling me what's better for my experience when he hasn't been in our forum or know anything about us. He doesn't post there everyday about the del Sol and neither do you for that matter, unfortunately.

The first thing I do when I get to work everyday is open up HAN. I wonder who posted what. I wonder if someone responded to my question about removing my tach and setting a new one in it's place with a higher redline. That wont ever happen again now because when I come here I'll have to dig thru 300 Civic related threads to find one about a del Sol. The Civic guys don't mind us here because it's not their voices being drowned out in the sea of del Sol threads. I love Honda-Acura.net. Do you know why? I'm a del Sol enthusiast and there is a del Sol only forum here. I come here every day because I have a del Sol. I love my car. I've invested my time, money, blood, and sweat into my car. When I have a question about the del Sol, I go to a del Sol forum - not a Civic Forum because I want to talk to other del Sol owners. OSX2000, Soltaker, Tib, Sky-Sol, gots_a_sol, Bakeoff, and the other Solers feel the same. Our responses here should be proof enough.

:blah: "oh but it's just another Civic" :blah:

Same engine? In some cases - there were different engines for different models, just like Civics and swaps are readily available.
Same Chassis? Technically, yes. It's true that a lot of things that fit a Civic will fit a Sol.
Same Car? Absolutely not. The Sol is different enough to warrant it's own forum. Let me explain a bit:

I'd like to see some of these Civic owners tell me the differences between the USDM del Sol S, Si, and VTEC models. What suspension upgrades were made between these models by Honda? Would the rear knuckles for a 1994 Sol VTEC fit a 1996 Sol Si? How is the understeer/oversteer between them? Have the Civic owners driven Sols and do they know? What year did Honda introduce the Sol VTEC to the United States? What features were stock on the vehicle? What color schemes were there for the interior? How about we take it overseas and they explain the differences in the USDM Sols and the JDM sols from Japan or even the VTi Sols from the UK or Germany? What options did they come stock with that are able to be easily installed in an American Sol? How would I install a Transtop on my USDM Sol from a JDM or VTi Sol? Has anyone ever done this or heard of it done on an American Sol? I'd like to see them tell me what year power locks were installed on the Sol or when airbags were introduced and what all steps would need to be taken to install a passenger side airbag on a Sol that didn't come with one? Does anyone have a spare dashboard for a 94+ Sol so it can be done? I'd like to see them tell me when the low fuel light was introduced into our car or when we got the option for a trunk/fuel tank release in the cabin. When I have a problem with my targa top or my retractable rear window, how many of these Civic owners do you think will be able to help me from their own experiences and provide a cheaper alternative to going to a stealership and having them fix it? If I have a leak from my targa top what is the best sealant to get and where should I get it? Can I use any silicone to fill in the gaps between the top and the chassis of the car? How about if I have an audio question? Where is the best place to mount a sub, tweaters, or an amp considering we don't have back seats and our trunks are different? What about running electricity to them considering the interior to the vehicle is absolutely unalike? Where would one of these guys suggest I get interior trim pieces for the Sol considering there is little to no aftermarker support for the vehicle? What looks good in a Sol? Can any of the Civic owners post a few pics of del Sols with certain options and kits, rims, etc? I'm sure they collect images of vehicles they don't drive on their computers like we do. How many of the Civic guys have a picture of a 96-97 Sol with a Mugen lip on it? What would the Civic guys recommend for taking apart my dashboard and running wires thru my center console? What year were the aux lights on the del Sol removed from the front bumper and do any of them have a spare front bumper with the housings for them? Do any of these guys have JDM or EDM glass headlights or know of a cheap place to get them? How about an Ameripool glass top or a carbon fiber trunk or fenders? What's a good method for creating our own projector style headlights from Integra headlights? What about del Sol specific gauges? Think these Civic guys have a spare del Sol gauge cluster laying around their garage when I need one? OSX2000 does. He's got 3 because he's a Sol owner, not a Civic owner. How about an extra set of shiftlinkage or a throttle cable? OEM Tail lights? I have a spare. Think the Civic guys have del Sol tail lights laying around if someone needs them? Interior door handles? When and where is the next Sol meet? How much do they think I could get for my del Sol with these features? I'm sure they know pricing of Sols considering we're the ones that looked around and paid for them. What about removing the rear storage compartments in the Sol for a subwoofer or something? Oh. Wait. There was a thread about this already and the Civic owners didn't even know we had gloveboxes back there. I love explaining things over and over and over again to someone who doesn't even own the type of car I do.

I'm sure the same things goes for the Civic. I wouldn't know where to mount audio equipment or where would be the best place to mount a VAFC into the dash. I don't know what features were available on the 1995 Honda Civic Coupe EX and I'm sure those owners don't know what was available on my USDM 95 del Sol Si. This is why I'm not off sprouting my knowledge in the Integra, RSX, S2000, or Accord forums. I don't know those cars. I don't know how much a 1999 Civic Si with 89,000 miles will sell for. I know the del Sol. Mixing these forums together because they have a few similarities is ubsurd. Going with this logic, we should mix the Civic and Integra forums considering a lot of Civics are equipped with Integra engines. I guess we could take that further and incorporate Accords in there because they also have VTEC engines, or if you want to get even broader we should invite Mustang and Camaro owners because they have a tach like us. Gee! While we're on the topic, let's invite the guys from NASA and Star Trek message boards to calculate the velocity wind will take over some riceboys aluminum spoiler and tell us how long it will take him to get to planet Vulcan providing stayed at 6000 rpm stopping only for gas. It's just ridiculous, man. Can't you see that?

I'm sure this thread will get closed (I hope not) and I'm sure I will probably be banned again (once again, I sincerely hope not but I'm going to put this on Import Love as well, just in case). You can do this, though, because it's your forum. You're the guy in charge but you're obviously not one to listen to the patrons that contribute on a daily basis to your site. First it was the signatures (to this I said nothing when many others did), then it was the removal of the On Topic forum, now it's this. You can speak about yourself being the owner and what you say goes but the bottom line is I come here for the people that I have met - not you. The friends, contacts, and resources here are unique and I cannot find them anywhere else. You paid for the domain name. You bought a license for these message boards that we use and you pay for the server space and bandwith. That's all fine and dandy but the one thing you cannot buy are the faithful users you have that come here to post their knowledge, suggestions, problems, and overall experiences with their cars. Anyone can go out and buy a domain name, setup a message board with a little bit of knowlege of .php or .asp and, and call themselves a webmaster or a web board administrator. Without the users, HAN would be nothing. Without you taking suggestions from the patrons that contribute to what you've created, you'll have nothing. Without the users attracting more users here, you'll have nothing. We're the ones that tell other people to come here and we're the ones that click on the ad's to the sponsers you've set up for us, bringing them business. We're the ones that put our time into branching out to other enthusiasts like us with our type of car. I hope you understand how disappointed in this move we are.

Daniel, please take this as a mature response to your utterly immature action yesterday of banning me. You seem like an all right guy and you seem to have a good head on your shoulders for things like this. I love coming on HAN and I love the people on here but I'd hate to have my first "How To" on Import Love's del Sol forum be "How to remove a Honda-Acura.net sticker from your del Sol and send it back to the guy who lost his del Sol users."

Regards,
Jason

Jason,

Your perspective seems to be skewed a little. What you must first do is acknowledge the fact that you were out of line. Then you must acknowledge the fact that there are consequences for stepping out of line. Then you must acknowledge that were the recipient of said consequence.

All else is semantics. I can discuss Civic/Del Sol issues all day long with you via PM, but the moment you step out of line, you are going to have to accept the consequences. I don't have a problem with you or anyone else on this board. What I do have a problem with was your behavior. A temporary 24-hour ban was adequate enough for me to get that point across to you.

sxecrow,
While I may be a newb to this board I am not a newb by any means to the del sol community and the del sol as I had said in another thread my del sol has been in my family since the day it came home from the dealership.
As far Drumsy ruining your community why can't your community exist in the Civic Forum I see it on other boards with out a problem. Drumsy is trying to make this into a Honda-Acura entusist site, not a model centric board, sure we would not wan all model honda's in the same forum, yet all of that knowledge you have could help other people with a car that has the same chassis.
While the Del Sol is a differnt in some ways it is no more differnt than a 99-00 si is to the same model civicx, the Haths to the civics all of the cars had differnt configuration both here and the us just like the del sol and they also shared a lot of the same parts around the world, so in the end the Del Sol really is just another model of the Civic hence the orgirnal name Civic Del Sol

I think posts by myself and Bakeoff above prove enough why there should be a seperate forum. I'll lurk here hoping it returns. You have a Sol related questions, catch me on IL. Good luck.

It's obviously too weak of a community to exist around other car owners.

Bye Bakeoff

I love it. No one ever wants to account for their actions. Everytime I rebuttal, everyone shuts up. Why is that? :dunno:

In the meantime, this thread also is closed. Members may PM me or any other administrator to voice their opinion in a respectful manner. Otherwise, enjoy the forums.
