i took mine off only because i have concerns about prematurely clogging it and killing my engine. i have a turbo though, and run VERY rich most of the time. if you have a near stock engine (like you) it'll actually hurt the low-end performance of your car a little due to the loss of some back pressure, MAYBE (a very big maybe) add a coupe horsepower up-top. not worth it.

my test-pipe looks like a cat, and is basically a 2nd resonator. you can't really tell from the sound that there's nothing there, because of the turbo. my friend has 99 si with just about every bolt-on and the same exaust as me (thermal), and his car is louder even though he has a cat. go figgure.

yes it does carry a hefty fine her in ohio running without a cat,..thats why i run a heat shield

im about to take off my cat which is in my headers for my civic cx by putin in new headers........ and i heard that a civic engine without a cat still emits alot les than your stardard 80-90's vehicles with ... hel... i had a thunderbird that had 3 cats on it !!!

i ended taking off 2 on the thunderbird.... thing frigen smoked every time i stepped on the gas and way too loud to enjoy.... and that was just the 6 :
