Default shift linkage ,clutch, or Tranny Problem???

I just swapped a Jdm b16 motor into a '00 civic dx coupe. i used a '00 gsr shift linkage and was wondering if it makes any difference than an si linkage. i am having problems shifting into third gear its ruff and grinds....especially when i race my car it's almost impossible to get into third gear. i'm using a stage 3 clutch. at the track i dumped the clutch at 4000 rpm and the car had massive wheel hops and never grabbed. the second run i launched at 4500 rpm and dumped the clutch and didn't go anywhere and popped out of 1st gear and broke a motor mount. (street tires at 22 psi) What happen???

Is the grinding specific to one gear? It may be that the synchros in that gear are messed up (third is a pretty common gear to be in after all). I would imagine that if your clutch stopped working that all the gears would grind. Also, if you had massive wheel hop on a launch that usually means your clutch did grab since it was spinning the wheels, but that the suspension isn't stiff enough to keep the wheels to the ground.

Yes, it's your synchros. 2nd or 3rd gear is the first to usually go because they are the most used. 3rd gear is the longest gear and is commonly referred to as the "power gear". Most people dyno in 3rd because it is the longest - I know I do.

Sounds to me like you need to learn a little more about driving too. You can't just drop your clutch at that RPM on street tires and expect anything but wheel spin/hop. Also, what exactly is a stage 3 clutch? It is really a ambiguous term. The importance of clutch descriptions is not the stage, but rather the tq that it can handle, pressure specs and pedal feel. That's what I love about ACT, none of this stage crap.

The gsr linkage should be fine with that motor. It's your tranny that needs help. h:

What times are you putting down? What internals do you have? Let's see some specs if you're running 22psi.
